- Hastings Initiative for AI and Humanity is a named multi-departmental AI unit with named director Eric Chown, drawing faculty from DCS, Economics, Philosophy, Anthropology, Cinema Studies, and Natural Sciences, with active programming including 30+ faculty grants, postdocs, and an Environmental Impact Hub within the past 2 years.
- Three overlapping named AI governance bodies confirmed: Hastings Initiative Advisory Committee (chaired by Eric Chown), CoTCP AI Subcommittee (chaired by Dale Syphers, 19 members, cross-campus), and AI Governance Working Group (IT-side, March 2025); Bowdoin is a named participant in the AAC&U AI, Pedagogy, and Curriculum year-long institute.
