Carnegie Mellon University
PA · AI Readiness #29 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 8.8 /10
Carnegie Mellon launched the nation's first Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence in 2018, and today undergrads outside computer science can add a six-course AI minor while every student gets Google Gemini and NotebookLM.
Tartans can take AI well beyond computer science, from AI for Humanities in Dietrich College to machine learning electives across the School of Computer Science. CMU leads the NSF AI Institute for Societal Decision Making, and its AI Science Foundry was picked as a node in a new national network of AI-driven labs. Industry ties run deep, with BNY's $10 million AI lab and the JPMorgan Chase AI Maker Space giving students hands-on work with real companies and real data.
