Florida International University offers undergraduates two AI degree paths: a B.S. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and a B.S. in Applied AI and Internet of Things, plus a 12-credit AI minor open to every major on campus.
FIU students can also earn an Undergraduate Certificate in Ethics, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence through the Philosophy department, one of the few such credentials housed outside a STEM college in Florida. The Break Through Tech Miami program, directed by Nimmi Arunachalam, connects Panthers directly to employers like the Miami HEAT through paid AI project placements with documented full-time hiring outcomes. FIU has a ways to go to match the standard set by top-performing UF, which offers a university-wide AI certificate, a named AI Scholars program, and a dedicated AI literacy academy.
