Massachusetts Institute of Technology
MA · AI Readiness #26 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 8.9 /10
At MIT, Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making has grown into the Institute's second-largest undergraduate major, and every student now has access to Parley, a generative AI platform MIT built and hosts in-house.
MIT's $1.1 billion Schwarzman College of Computing houses its Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, led by Daniela Rus, and the NSF-funded Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions. Undergraduates outside the AI major can enroll in its core courses under published policy, and Ethics of Computing, co-taught by a philosopher and a computer scientist, is open across departments. Students connect with employers through the Deep Tech Career Fair. With just 4,535 undergraduates, MIT holds its own against far larger peers like Ohio State, with nearly 47,000, and Michigan, with more than 34,000.
