Mississippi State University
MS · AI Readiness #139 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 6.4 /10
Mississippi State's undergraduate AI minor is open to students in every major outside computer science, complementing the SEC's first BS in Artificial Intelligence, launched in Fall 2024.
Dr. Julie Jordan, appointed the university's first Senior Adviser for Artificial Intelligence and Data Governance in November 2025, oversees AI strategy at the institutional level. Undergrads can access Google Gemini, Claude for Enterprise, and ChatGPT Enterprise campus-wide, and the AI minor pairs with CSE 3763, a standalone course on legal and ethical issues in computing required for the BS in AI. The 2023 AI working group that once studied governance policy hasn't reconvened, and no business, arts, or humanities department has put its own name on an AI course yet.
