San Diego State became the first university in the California State University system to offer a B.S. in Artificial Intelligence and Human Responsibility, a degree that draws from computer science, philosophy, linguistics, sociology, and environmental science all in one program.
SDSU backs that degree with infrastructure most undergrads don't see at a public university: every first-year student completes the AAAI Micro-Credential, and 86 degree programs were redesigned through the AI-Ready Course Design Workshop. AI Tools including ChatGPT Edu, Google Gemini for Education, and Adobe Firefly are available to all students. To add real world AI to the academic side, the James Silberrad Brown Center for AI, endowed with $5 million, connects undergrads to active projects in healthcare AI and social robotics.
