AIREDEX™ Score: 6.7 /10
Tufts launched two undergraduate AI minors in fall 2026: a Minor in AI Development for students who want to build AI systems, and a Minor in AI Application for students across disciplines who want to use AI within their field.
Tufts undergrads in Engineering and Arts and Sciences can enroll in either program, with the non-technical track designed for students outside computer science, data science, and computer engineering. Supporting resources include free access to the Tufts HPC Cluster with NVIDIA H200 GPUs and ethics courses like COMP 139 and the University College Responsible AI course. Tufts is also a partner institution in IAIFI, a $20 million NSF AI institute led by MIT alongside Harvard and Northeastern, and is currently finalizing a national search for a permanent TIAI director to lead the institute's next phase.
