A BS in Informatics AI/Machine Learning concentration, an 18-credit Machine Learning minor, and a new Ethics and Philosophy of AI minor give UAlbany undergrads three entry points, plus a 192-GPU on-campus supercomputer open to the whole university.
UAlbany's AI Plus initiative spans all nine schools and colleges through a three-tier curriculum progression, with AI-integrated courses confirmed in economics, social welfare, public affairs, and business alongside the technical programs. The AI & Society College, launched in spring 2025 with $2.4 million from SUNY, coordinates cross-campus AI education and houses the AI & Society Research Center. A $20 million partnership with IBM through the Center for Emerging Artificial Intelligence Systems funds active joint research projects, and UAlbany was the first university in the world to host an IBM Artificial Intelligence Unit computing cluster on campus.
