University of Cincinnati
OH · AI Readiness #76 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 7.8 /10
UC has built a broad AI infrastructure anchored by its own BearcatGPT platform, the Bearcats AI Ready initiative, an ethics research center, and substantive industry partnerships with TCS, Salesforce, and Thales.
Even with the infrastructure commitment, confirmed AI-specific funding comes to less than $3 million, a small slice of UC's $346 million total research budget. Undergrads have a two-year AI associate degree and a graduate certificate as entry points, but no four-year AI major yet. That combination, real programs and industry ties running ahead of funding and formal leadership, puts UC in the middle of the pack among large public research universities rather than among the leaders.
