University of Mississippi
MS · AI Readiness #159 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 5.9 /10
Ole Miss students train hands-on in AI and narrative intelligence through the EdgeTheory-powered National Center for Narrative Intelligence, and get free GPU compute through the Mississippi Center for Supercomputing Research.
Ole Miss is the only Mississippi institution and one of three SEC schools selected for OpenAI's NextGenAI consortium, funding research through the National Center for Narrative Intelligence. EdgeTheory, the center's operational partner since 2023, runs ongoing internships and workforce training in narrative intelligence and AI. The Center for Practical Ethics holds Mississippi's first NSF Ethics and Responsible Research grant, and the AI Task Force, chaired by Robert Cummings, meets monthly with publicly archived recordings. A dedicated AI leadership title and a credit-bearing undergraduate AI credential would be natural next additions as Ole Miss builds on this foundation.
