MO · AI Readiness #76 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 7.8 /10
Mizzou offers undergrads of any major a Certificate in AI Fundamentals and Applications, a university-built Show-Me AI platform, and a new cross-disciplinary AI research center launched in 2026.
AERI, Mizzou's cross-disciplinary AI research institute, launched in May 2026 under Executive Director Prasad Calyam with more than 40 affiliated faculty across five colleges. The AI Standing Committee, chaired by Kevin Brown, has produced a formal task force report and a mandatory syllabus policy since 2024. Federal support includes a $5.5M NSF research translation award and a $10M Department of Education grant for AI literacy training. The Hellbender supercomputer gives students access to Nvidia A100 GPUs for research computing. A dedicated AI leadership title and a standalone undergraduate AI major would be logical next additions as Mizzou's program matures.
