AIREDEX™ Score: 6.8 /10
UNM undergrads can take AI ethics and society courses through the Honors College, access free AI tools campus-wide, and tap into GPU computing resources, all backed by a university-wide AI Steering Committee launched in 2026.
UNM brings AI into the classroom through the Honors College course Artificial Intelligence and Society and through the RAISE program's ethics-as-design curriculum open to engineering students. The Center for Advanced Research Computing gives students access to clusters including Easley, which runs NVIDIA H100 and L40s GPUs, and Zoom AI Companion is available at no cost to all students. The AI Steering Committee, chaired by Mark Emmons and charged in early 2026, is finalizing campus-wide ethical AI guidelines expected to roll out in fall 2026.
