West Virginia University

WV · AI Readiness #178 of 227

AIREDEX™ Score: 5.5 /10

West Virginia University's Reed College of Media has taught AI-focused courses like Privacy and Ethics of AI since 2014, and the university now offers an undergraduate B.S. in Applied AI and Data Analytics.

WVU leads the NSF RETI Consortium, a $321 million multi-institution energy-AI research partnership announced in July 2026. Undergrads can access the Dolly Sods GPU cluster, open to all West Virginia higher education students and faculty, and Reed College of Media's AI coursework continues alongside new offerings like the campus AI Literacy Learning Modules. WVU does not yet offer an AI minor or certificate to students outside of STEM, and has yet to fully develop an AI governance infrastructure that other Power Four schools have shown.
