Two ad hoc committees, convened by President Mandel in fall 2025 with full rosters spanning faculty, staff, and students, are set to deliver formal AI recommendations to senior leadership by fall 2026. The GPMoo GPU cluster, funded by a $744,886 state grant, already supports AI-driven research across economics, psychology, and computer science, and helped secure an NSF grant and a NeurIPS 2024 publication. As those committee recommendations land, Williams has a real opening to convert this research and governance groundwork into a named center or lab.
