University at Buffalo
NY · AI Readiness #21 of 227
AIREDEX™ Score: 9.0 /10
University at Buffalo launched seven 'AI + X' bachelor's degrees in fall 2025, pairing AI with economics, communication, and policy analysis, making it one of the first New York universities to offer AI-integrated degrees across the humanities and social sciences.
Bulls undergrads can also pursue an AI ethics minor or an artificial intelligence, crime and society minor, while BullsAI, a university-built platform running on NVIDIA DGX B200 servers, gives every student on-campus access to tools from AI chat to model training. Empire AI Beta, the consortium's next-generation supercomputer hosted on UB's campus, came fully online this August, putting research-grade computing power within reach of every enrolled student. Interest is surging too: nearly 200 additional students enrolled in the new AI degrees for fall 2026, well beyond the inaugural cohort of 30.
